Hello everyone,

 

Healthy Wimbledon Girl is here and excited to share this journey with you. I find myself, on the other side of 50, with loads of energy and a thirst for knowledge. The world around us is evolving and it’s important to stay in touch. Reaching out to my community using social media is both empowering and fulfilling. I’m thrilled to share what I’ve learnt over the years amongst old and new friends.

 

Top 5 things you need to know about Healthy Wimbledon Girl…

 

1. WELLNESS IS EVERYTHING

You realise with time that life goes full circle. With age, you begin to notice little things around you and how important the basic things in life are. You begin to appreciate a good night’s sleep, to be able to smile in the morning, to stand tall during the day, to feel energised and at peace with the world. You learn how to manage everyday stresses, the positive and the negative ones. Habits to learn and to live by. Mental health is an integral part of physical wellbeing. Be kind!

 

2. NUTRITION IS KEY

A healthy diet is all about making the right choices. It’s about being organised and thinking ahead. Nature helps you in choosing well. Feast in the colours of your food, let your eyes enjoy the meal, free your tastebuds. The more colours on your plate, the fresher the ingredients, the more energy you’ll have to pursue your dreams and your daily goals. Keep it simple, eat natural and eat what your body needs. Never forget that water!

 

3. FITNESS IS A MUST

Daily movement is not a choice. A five-minute stretch first thing in the morning or a five-minute mobilisation session at lunch, they all count. Moving any which way is a must. Do as much or as little as you feel, but daily. By moving we keep our bodies limber and strong. Walking keeps depression away and gives you all the boost you need for the day. Whether aerobic or anaerobic, alone or with friends, keep it moving. A healthy mind in a healthy body! A lifestyle intervention maybe. If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it. Yoga, pilates, hiit, cycling, hiking, tennis: Wimbledon has got it all!

 

4. COMMUNITY IS PARAMOUNT

Being a member of a community is vitally important. It’s like your second family outside your home. You live amongst them and they’re a part of your everyday life. They turn up to work and serve you that coffee with a smile. A shoutout to all the hidden gems and Wimbledon heroes. I’ll be chatting to them (having a lot of fun) and getting to know them. 5. A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

My name is Majda. A wife and mother to three young adults. I’m no dietician, no nutritionist, no herbalist, no personal trainer, and no teacher. I am a mum who’s done the walking to school in rain or shine, the conker fights on the walk home, the tandem bicycle riding across the common and the late homework evenings after supper. Now it’s the Whatsapp appointments to schedule a family meal, catering for one gluten-free (me, intolerant), one vegan, one no carbs, one wannabe vegan (one day bacon one day not) and one normal. Friends may or may not drop by. Life is peaceful. Time to meditate and practise mindfulness. But before that, time to use this positive healthy energy to get to know and engage with the Wimbledon we all know and love. Let’s do this together!

    Hi Majda,

    Moved here in September so not an old hand like you! Also 50 and intolerant to many more goods than simply gluten ☹️, so seeking out friendly eateries. Give me a shout!
